Guide: Practice — Finding the Ideal Setup

Table of Contents
Preparation is the Key to Success
In Race Manager, every track is unique. On some, top speed on straights is vital, while on others, stability in slow hairpins is key. Practice (Free Practice) is your time for experimentation, as you find the keys to the cars ideal behavior.
Setup Parameters
Your engineers allow you to change six key parameters:
- Aerodynamics (Aero): Balance between downforce and drag.
- Suspension: Stiffness for handling bumps and kerbs.
- Gear Ratios: Affect acceleration and top speed.
- Brake Bias: Distribution of braking force between axles.
- Tire Pressure: Affects contact patch and tire warm-up.
- Differential: Helps the car enter corners more efficiently.

Read driver feedback carefully — it indicates the direction for changes.
How to Read Driver Feedback?
After each test run, the driver reports how close the current settings are to their ideal (which is hidden and unique for each track):
- Perfect: Hit the mark exactly. Don't change this parameter!
- Close: Minimal adjustments needed.
- Slightly More/Less: Moderate deviation.
- Significantly More/Less: You are very far from the ideal, requiring a major change in value.
Run Limits
The number of laps in practice is limited. Each driver has 5 Runs per race weekend.
- Each run allows you to test a new setup and see how it affects the car's behavior.
- You receive detailed feedback on each parameter, helping you narrow down the ideal settings.
What Else Does Practice Provide?
In addition to finding setups, runs allow you to:
- Evaluate Tire Wear: You will see the approximate wear percentage per lap for the selected compound under practice conditions.
- Check Pace: You will receive lap time data, helping to predict your chances in qualifying.
- Strengthen Synergy: Collaboration between the driver and the race engineer during practice contributes to their mutual understanding (Synergy). Joint practice sessions are the fastest way to reach the first synergy levels (5, 10, and 25 races).
💡 Tip: Save successful setups as templates! If you return to this track next season, it will be much easier to start preparation with the base from previous years.
